That’s a very thoughtful piece! I am not sure if I could have worked out what to say about that card myself and you have really gone deep on what it means. I think I should work on my symbolism skills. I often struggle to explain and explore ambiguous artworks and texts, but when I hear someone like you explain them it suddenly makes sense. How do you think someone can learn to improve those skills?
A lot of it is just pattern-spotting and observation. The ability to draw connections between ideas and objects is one of those things that all humans can do, but to be good at it you need to practice. I also find that being an avid devotee of stories helps too. Storytellers are constantly using symbols and connections between ideas and characters and things. Symbols are visual language. You learn it like you do any language — exposure and practice.
